As a mom who spends everyday with my kids, sometimes I need a little help with coming up with fun, new things to do during the day. I want to say that I am EXTREMELY creative and can come up with something new to do with my kids daily and all on my own, but honestly, it's nice to have a little help. Gryphon House came to my rescue, providing me with four titles to review, The Budding Gardener, The Budding Chef, L Is For Lion and What Does a Lion Say? Each book has been exactly what I needed and I am delighted to share these titles with you!

Whether your child likes to garden or not, they will discover through these awesome activities that they love the outdoors! The Budding Gardener comes with "50 Fun-In-The-Dirt activities," such as Fishbowl Jungle, Spring In The Middle Of Winter and Grow Your Own Pizza and these are only a few of my favorites.

The Budding Chef will help you and your kids "Whip Up Magical Moments In The Kitchen!" If you have a picky eater or you just want to have a blast in the kitchen, the Budding Chef is exactly what you need. What I really love about this book is it gives lots of learning opportunities and tips while you prepare and cook your food. There are great recipes for Breakfast, Lunch/Dinner, Snacks, Desserts, as well as how to make butter and peanut butter! My daughter loves to cook with me in the kitchen, so this is the perfect book for us!

L Is For Lion is one of my favorites, because my daughter is at the perfect stage for being creative while learning her ABCs. This book teaches about the letters and their sounds and gives great tips and activities to do with each letter. L Is For Lion starts with the letter "A" and goes through the entire alphabet. It has different games, songs, books and activities to do with your kids, making learning each letter fun and creative and has given me a lot of new ideas to do with my daughter.

Lastly, when there is down time, What Does a Lion Say? is the book you need to make literacy fun and easy. This book is full of on-the-go games such as "Imagine A Story," where you make up a story about the people you see around you, in cars, walking their dogs etc. "Are they secret agents? Super-heroes? There are also fun games to play at home too. One of my favorites is "Make PB&J the Way I Say." This game is all about directions. One person makes the sandwich while the other gives the directions. The person making the sandwich can only do what the person giving the directions says to do. Mix up this game and try it with another simple activity, you'll have a blast!

Anomia Card Game (Review & Giveaway)

"Anomia: [uh-NO-mee-uh] - Noun - 1) A problem with word finding or recall. 2) Chaos. 3) The game where common knowledge becomes uncommonly fun!"

"The directions are simple. Draw a card from the center pile and flip it over. Does the symbol on your card match one on another player's card? If so, you must quickly face-off with the other player by giving an example of the person, place, or thing on their card before they can do the same for yours. If you blurt out a correct answer first, you win their card and drawing continues. Sounds simple, right? Wrong!"

Anomia is a card game that every family needs to own. We received this game to review as a family and we love it so much. The actual game is very simple to play, so who knew that trying to come up with a name of a candy brand or a zoo animal could get you stumped when under pressure!?

Players: 3-6 players, Ages 10 and up.
Goal: To win the most cards by facing-off with other players.
Cards: 2 decks. Each deck has 92 unique playing cards and 8 Wild Cards.
Duration: One round lasts about 30 minutes. Two rounds are suggested.
Vibe: It can be your turn at any time and anyone can be your opponent!

To play Anomia, you place two draw piles in the center of the table. One person starts by taking a card from the draw pile and placing it very quickly in front of them, so everyone can see their card. The person beside them does the same, and the game continues until two player's symbols match. The symbols will match, but what is written on both cards will be different. One yellow diamond card may have the word fruit written on it, and the other may have the word color. You must be the first person to blurt out the other persons card, so if your card is the one that has the word fruit on it, the other person must blurt out a name of a fruit, while you blurt out a color. If you are the first one to blurt out the right answer, you take their card and put it in a pile in front of you. The game does not stop here!

What the cards and symbols look like.

After you have taken that persons card, there will be a new card revealed under that persons card pile that may, or may not match your symbol/card again or someone elses symbol/card. If another card matches the play continues, which is called a cascade. We had multiple cascades happen when we played and it had us all laughing because it really takes you by surprise.

Lastly, there are wild cards in the draw pile. The wild cards have two random symbols on them, and if two players have those symbols they too must duel. So not only are you watching to see if the symbol on your card matches someone elses, now there is the possibility to be one of the symbols on the wild card and have to watch for that symbol as well!

This is a very fun, fast paced card game that will get your brain working over time and get you laughing non stop. My friends and family wrote down the name of this game and told me that it was definitely a game they wanted to own.

My Friendship Bracelet Maker (Review & Giveaway)

The process of making them involves securing a knot (online instructions will tell you to pin to your pants or hold with a nail in the wall!) and keeping the strings in order while knotting the threads. After one experience with the grandkids, David decided their must be a better way!"

When I was little I loved making friendship bracelets and would pin them to my pants while crafting my bracelets! It was never the ideal situation, so when I found out about My Friendship Bracelet Maker I knew this would be the perfect solution to making bracelets faster and easier, and would be a lot of fun for my girls!

The kit comes with a loom which holds your threads in place, threads in every color imaginable, and a neat, convenient tray that slides out from underneath the loom that stores all your supplies.

To start, I chose four colors, light purple, dark purple, pink and white. You can choose up to 5 threads, depending on how wide you want your bracelet.

You align each piece of thread together then you fold them in half and tie a knot 1/2 inch from the end. You then clip the knot underneath the butterfly clip and string the threads through the slots. What is neat about the butterfly clip is that it is interchangeable. It twists and pops off, so you can switch it with a new clip. This really adds an extra fun factor to the loom!

Using the My Friendship Bracelet Maker was very easy to use and was much better than pinning it to my pants. The strings stayed firmly in place which gave the overall bracelet a tight, symmetrical look. Without the loom, I remember my bracelets getting a little lopsided. Since it has been a while since making friendship bracelets, I decided to start with a beginner pattern... Stripes! Check out my creation below!

Screenlife Games: Scene It? Games (Review)

Over the holidays I was given the lovely opportunity to review three of Screenlife's Scene It? Games. I had never played any of the games before and was very excited for this review. If you have never played the Scene It? DVD Games, they are board games that come with a DVD that is full of on-screen puzzles, images, clips and more from your favorite movies and tv shows. There are a ton of different games you can purchase, and they are all a lot of fun.

The first game we reviewed was Scene It? Disney Magical Moments. We played this game with a group of adults and kids and it was so much fun. There really isn't anything more magical then Disney, so this game brought back a lot of great memories. I did, however, realize that I am a little rusty on my Disney movies and need to brush up on them before I play next time!

The second Scene It? Game we reviewed was Scene It? Harry Potter™: The Complete Cinematic Journey. We are Harry Potter fans and had so much fun with this game. I was on the winning team and we were way ahead, but then we got stumped too many times and ended up losing. What I really enjoyed about this game was that there were equally hard questions and easy questions which made the game fun for both the kids and the adults. This is definitely a great game to own!

Lastly, since we reviewed these over the holidays, we received Scene It? Rudolph from the classis tv series Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer®. The objective of this game is to race to collect the Misfit Toys before Bumble and the Abominable Snowman do. You'll have a blast with all the fun mini-games!

Night of Mystery Review & GIVEAWAY

Have you heard of Murder Mystery Parties? They are interactive parties where you and your guests act out a fictional murder and spend the party trying to solve the mystery of "whodunnit." At first I thought these were just done at special dinner theatres, but when I heard you could do them at your own home, I jumped at the chance to try host one of my own! That's when I came across an amazing website, Night Of Mystery.com which actually allows you to instantly download your party games!

Night of Mystery does an excellent job at explaining all about Murder Mystery parties on their site and was kind enough to provide me with a free game to try out! Something in particular that I loved when chosing which Murder Mystery to get from Night of Mystery is their options!! Not only do they have a great selection of different themed mysteries to choose from, but they also have what they call "Clean Versions" of some of their popular mysteries. The Clean Versions are perfect for more conservative groups, company functions, and youth groups because they have been formatted without any reference to alcohol, affairs and illegal drugs. I really admire that Night of Mystery has these Clean Versions and even though it was hard to make a decision on which game to choose (because they all sounded so fun), I ended up getting the Murder High Reunion (Clean) 80s themed game!

The download of the Murder High Mystery came with:

A Host Guide- A complete how-to of throwing your party which includes directions on preparing the invitations, assigning characters and preparing for the party.

A Schedule of the Night- a step-by-step breakdown of how the night will go.

An Introduction- to be read to the guests upon arrival.

Designed Invitations- that you can customize with the details of your party.

Information to be sent with the invitations- including background information on the party and the guest list.

Character Descriptions- full descriptions of the characters, including costuming and acting tips.

Character Objective Sheets- this includes objectives for each character to try to achieve at each stage of the game in order to uncover evidence and find the murderer.

Name Tags- for your guests.

Evidence- more clues that will be presented toward the end of the night. This evidence will help your guests solve the mystery and find the murderer.

"Who Dunnit” Cards- to allow your guests to guess the murderer, along with vote for the most animated character and best outfit.

The Solution- revealing the murderer and all the clues that could have led you there.

Award Certificates- to be awarded to the best costume, the most theatrical, the player with the most money at the end of the night and to each of the guests that solve the murder.

I used the downloaded file along with lots of helpful information on the Night of Mystery website to put everything together for my party. Some things I found extremely helpful were the online forum posts which allowed you to get feedback from others who have hosted the parties, and all of the party, costume, and decoration tips Night of Mystery provides for each of their games. I had such an amazing time hosting the party and everyone that came said it was one of the best parties they had been to.

Here are some of the reasons I think made the night so great:

- Planning: I made sure to give myself plenty of time (around 2 weeks) to plan for the party and get things ready. Characters had to be assigned so I made sure to have RSVP's of everyone attending so the party could go smoothly.

- Extras: A little goes a long way! With the help of some inexpensive decor, 80s themed items and candies, and some fun internet tools (YearbookYourself.com), I was able to decorate the house perfectly for the party and not spend a lot of money!

- Great Guests: My guests did an AMAZING job at dressing up and playing the roles of their characters! The Night of Mystery Character Descriptions for everyone really helped get them into character and have a fun time!

- Don't Stress, Just Enjoy the Night: I had everyone bring an appetizer or treat to share so I wouldn't have to worry about feeding such a big crowd. I read on one of the Night of Mystery posts that one hostess spent tons of time making food for everyone and because everyone was so into the party, not much was eaten. Having finger foods was the perfect way for people to eat and still be able to mingle!

Overall, the Night of Mystery party I did was a HUGE success and I am already planning on hosting many more murder mystery parties in the future! From start to finish, Night of Mystery provided an excellent experience, especially for my first time hosting!

The book makes his sad because he realizes that he lost what he loved most--his music, family, and friends. My daughter did an awesome job at listening and understanding this classic tale. She also enjoyed the fun remix song about the story, which she danced to.

Calliope Games: Tsuro (Review & Giveaway)

As my family has been enjoying playing more and more games in the last few months, we were ecstatic to learn about Calliope Games. Their mission, gathering families together, is such an important aspect in my own life, I was very excited to play their games with my family.

We received one of Calliope's games called Tsuro to review and I have to say this is now one of my favorites. I really like that I can play it with just one other person or a group (up to 8 players). Sometimes my husband and I want to play a game after the girls are in bed and this is one we have enjoyed playing together.

I have never seen a game like Tsuro before, for the design and creativity of the board and the object of the game is very fascinating. The object of the game is to keep your player on the playing board by placing tiles around the interior of the board. The one to outlast the others wins!

Contents of the game include:

1 game board

35 Path Tiles

8 Marker Stones

1 Dragon Tile

How To Play Tsuro:

1. Each player chooses a marker stone, which is your player during the game.

2. You then choose three tiles and you always have three tiles in your hand during the game, unless the tile pile is empty. Each tile has two lines on each side, similar to the tile below.

3. When it is your turn you place one of your three tiles on the board and move your marker stone from one end of the tile to the other. The tiles stay in place for the entire game. If your tile connects to another tile, you must move your marker until you are at the edge of the tiles. You may be taken all the way across the board. You can see from the picture above that some lines will take you to the edge of the board. When a tile takes you to the edge of the board you are out.

4. Last one to stay on the board without getting knocked off the board wins!

Kauffman's Fruit Farm (Review & Giveaway)

"Kauffman's "Bird-In-Hand Brand" Orchard Products have been recognized and enjoyed since the early 1900's. Founder Amos L. Kauffman planted the first fruit trees in 1911, and today the 3rd, 4th, & 5th generations operate the business. Our warehouse and country market are located in the heart of Pennsylvania's Dutch Country, along Rt. 340 between the villages of Bird-In-Hand and Intercourse."

Kauffman's Fruit Farm has some of the most delicious foods you'll find, from All Natural Fruit Butters made right on the farm, to Freshly Squeezed Sweet Apple Cider.

As you can see from the picture the Apple Cider barely made it from the box to the fridge, without us devouring it in one sitting! My family was super exited to not only drink the cider, but to taste the Blueberry Jam and Strawberry Flavored Apple Butter.

The Blueberry Jam was extremely delightful, with a very smooth texture and just enough sugar, I enjoyed it on almost everything from crackers to toast and of course my all time favorite, bagels. As for the Strawberry Flavored Apple Butter, the consistency is more like an applesauce, which was also equally delicious. It was however, a little tart from the strawberries, but I quite enjoyed it!

The Sweet Apple Cider was so yummy, as I mentioned above, it barely made it into the fridge. It is made with both sweet and tart apples which I think is the key to refreshing apple cider because it wasn't too sweet but it also wasn't too tart, it was absolutely perfect. So, if you haven't tried it, then you better do so because you'll never purchase any other kind of apple cider again!

MOBI Technologies New AnimaLamps have been a hit in our house this past week! My girls got a play tent for Christmas, and at night they will take their Portable Night Light and play in their tent.

They received the Bunny and the Giraffe AnimaLamps to review and they think they are just the coolest toys around. AnimaLamps are new fun Animal Night Lights that kids can bring with them everywhere!

Some features that we really like about the AnimaLamps are:

1. Well, as a parent, I have really enjoyed that their are NO batteries required with these. They have a built in rechargeable battery which last up to 8-12 hours per charge, so purchasing batteries!

2. They are completely safe because they use cool LED bulbs, so I'm not worrying whether or not they will start a fire in our home.

3. They are very easy to operate. I was surprised when I turned on the lamp with the on button. There is nothing to push or click, you simply tap the button and it goes on. This has made operating these lights a breeze for my girls.

4. There are multiple light settings. Tap the button once and the light will come on, hold your finger on the button and the light will become brighter or dimmer. This has been awesome because you can put the setting of the light as dim and use the light as a Night Light, or you can have it on the brightest setting and use it as a Flashlight.

5. The heads tilt. You can place these on a flat surface and tilt the light to get the right angle for reading or any other activities. Or tilt the head all the way down so the animal glows and becomes a Night Light.

6. There are 3 different AnimaLamp animals to choose from!

Motherhood is amazing and filled with so many experiences. The Mommy MD Guides is a website and series of books created by various doctors who are also mothers and is a fantastic resource for women!

I have to say that it is so refreshing to have these guides and such great insight from highly respected women! Both The Mommy MD Guides site from MOMOSA Publishing, LLC and their books are fantastic!

My co-blogger, Jaime just happens to be pregnant and I happen to have a baby in her first year of life, so we were thrilled for the opportunity to do a joint review on two of Mommy MD Guide books: The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy & Birth as well as The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby's First Year. Here is what we thought...

Jaime: "Going through pregnancy and birth can be a little nerve-wracking. Although I've gone through almost three pregnancies, I am constantly learning new things everyday. What I have really enjoyed about The Mommy MD Guide to Pregnancy & Birth is that I am able to gain more knowledge from Doctors who have gone through pregnancy and birth themselves. The book is divided into 43 chapters, one for each week of pregnancy and a few chapters about birth. Right now I am 34 weeks, and have been reading up on my baby's size, latest developments, as well as my own latest developments. It is reassuring to know that at this stage it is absolutely normal to not be able to tie my shoes. Just the other day I was feeling a little silly hopping around the living room trying to get my boots on! Overall, I have found myself delighting in this book and would recommend it to other moms!"

Me: One thing that I have noticed with kids is that no one is the same! Each and everytime I feel like I know it all and have gone through or seen all I need to, my kids show me that is just not true. That is why I think having guides and insight into the development of babies is great! The Mommy MD Guide to Your Baby’s First Year is filled with more than 900 tips and solutions to the many different challenges and joyous moments that can occur during your baby's first year! Topics that I really enjoyed reading and related to a lot right now included breastfeeding and getting your baby to sleep through the night. In fact, after completely reading the book, I find myself going back to it over and over again to reference and look things up. I just feel really confident knowing who the information is coming from and completely trust the knowledge and understanding that these mommy doctors have shared!

Overall, Jaime and I both thoroughly enjoyed The Mommy MD Guides and would highly recommend them to others!

One of my many New Years resolutions this year is to read more with my kids. Literacy is such an important part of our lives, I was thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with Houghton Mifflin Harcourt. Houghton Mifflin Harcourt books have helped us with this goal by providing our family with great books to read together as a family!

I married a man who lives for sports, so while we were visiting our friends house, we both noticed a book on the shelf that intrigued us both, Bats at the Ballgame. We pulled it off the shelf and started to read it. We were surprised at how adorable the story was and the word choice was absolutely delightful. From Cricket Jacks to Mothdogs, this book will have you reading this story over and over with your kids.

We liked this book so much, we were ecstatic when we found out there were two more Bat books in the series. Bats at the Library tells the story about bats sneaking into an opened library window, playing and exploring until dawn interrupts their stay and they must head home. The detail in this book is outrageous and has been so much fun to read.

Bats at the Beach is about bats who spend the night at their favorite beach. Roasting bugmallows over the fire, and lathering moontan lotion on themselves is just a glimpse of the creativeness of this book. Like the others, the illustrations are beautiful and very eye catching.

All three Bat books have superb, whimsical illustrations and have been favorites in our home. Seeing my husband get excited to read these to my kids makes me thrilled, and gets my girls super excited to get story time with Daddy!

Lastly, we received The Family Storybook Treasury to review, which is a collection of stories and poetry all in one book. What I have really enjoyed with this collection of stories is that it comes with an audio CD. On those days where I am absolutely exhausted, I cuddle up with my kids and we listen to the stories together. My kids love it, and it's nice to change things up a bit from our regular nightly reading routine.

My daughter has really enjoyed this book because of the fun stories and illustrations presented. One of her favorites is Five Little Monkeys Jumping on the Bed, which we read daily! She will jump on my bed while singing and jumping! Other stories included in this book are:

Blok Squad Police Force Pursuit REVIEW

Blok Squad Police Force Pursuit is the 391-piece set from Mega Bloks which allows any kid to let their imagination and creativity roll! I had the chance to review this set with my kids and they really enjoyed it. We all worked together as a family to put the set together following the easy step-by-step picture guides and then once it was completed, the kids were able to gear up for lots of playtime with the set. I really like how the Blok Squad Police Force Pursuit set teaches kids about the multi-facet aspects of the police force, showing some of their abilities on both land and in water!

The set comes with a cool Police Cruiser SUV – a top-of-the-line patrol vehicle with excellent control to zoom through the streets with your Blok Squad Police Officer, a Police Force Carrier – a quick response Patrol truck designed to help transport Police Officers to the scene of an emergency and transport captured bad guys to jail, and a Police Boat – a harbor cruiser designed with high-performance engines and advanced radio equipment to help catch fleeing fugitives on the water which is captained by your Blok Squad Naval Police Officer. All three of the vehicles make for one amazing police force capable of securing a major accident site, locking down a crime scene, or finding a missing person!

Overall, our whole family enjoyed this toy. We enjoyed constructing the set as well as playing with it! I think the toy is both educational and helps children harness skills!
